End Of Season 2009

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on December 17th, 2009

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year everyone.

It’s been a monster year, much effort has gone into trying to get the show out this year after some big changes behind the scenes.  As a result I am burnt out and in need of a break, so I’m going to take one.  The Rugby Roundtable will be back for the 2010 Super 14 in February.

In regards to subscriptions, these are worked by episode number, so don’t panic you will receive what you have already paid for before the subscription is due again as the Paypal system only offers months rather than shows.

Prizes for Santa’s Sack will be rolled over to the Superbru picking comp for the 2010 Super 14.

Apologies for the untidy end to 2009, I’ll try to pull together an Xmas special but it’s been hard work trying to catch up with people who are already on the move with their own Xmas plans.

As always you can email me at jed.thain@gmail.com about the show and plans for the podcast in 2010.

Tour News - Update 1

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on November 18th, 2009

Kia Ora,

Listener Dave Algie wrote to me earlier this week to ask where the podcast was, he received my reply and then pointed out that I should actually let everyone know what the story was… incredibly I have only had the chance to sit down and do this now.  Unlike previous years it is only me on tour this time; whereas there has been help on hand to either produce the Alternative Rugby Commentary or The Rugby Roundtable Podcast, this time there is not and my ability to produce the RRT whilst on the road has been compromised to such a degree that I simply have not been able to settle into a proper routine.

Now I know that some of you will be scoffing, thinking that all teh piss drinking and good times is really the reason, but I can assure this is not the case.

There have been some very interesting events on the tour and I will tell you all about them when I am able to finally produce the next episode of the RRT, until then I hope you can make do with the video edits from allblacks.com and rucku.com as well as the written pieces, for all of you with subscription queries, do not panic as I am more than happy to work through any questions with you in order to keep the podcast on track and growing.

Episode 163

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on October 30th, 2009

Semi final time in New Zealand, Currie Cup final, Bledisloe test match, Meads and Lahore Cup finals and the start of the great Northern migrations, this episode of the Rugby Roundtable represents the shift in seasons as the South close off another year of Rugby.  Former All Black first-five eighth Stephen Bachop joins the Jedi and they tear through the Rugby Universe again.  Jonathan Owen and Pete Davies give a view from the North, Tank Lanning sounds like a kid with an ice cream at the prospect of the Cheetahs playing the powerful Blue Bulls.  The Juice contacts us with some very serious news from Crookland and Kevin Sullivan speaks of life in America - but not as we know it.  Mooch makes a welcomed return to the Rugby Universe.

Plus this years Santa’s Sack is underway, as a Subcriber you are automatically entered into the draw, so send your Skype addresses in so we can contact you on the day of the draw.  If you don’t have Skype, that’s no problem - send us a phone number, either way the winner is going to be on the final in December.

Episode 161

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on October 17th, 2009

The Rugby Roundtable this week would like to apologise for being late, we copped a burnt out hard drive, a dodgy video card, a performing ftp server and slow service from our provider.

But we still have managed to get it up. The show that is…

So this week you can hear, Murray Clark from the Tokyo Gaijin Rugby Club as they prepare for the big game later this month and sell their fundraising T-Shirts (www.rumbleinthericebowl.com), across the world in Europe the European Cup has started and Peter Davies and Jonathan Owen gives us the run down on that. Kevin Sullivan talks America with us and the news is that the Alternative Rugby Commentary is touring the world again! You can just about hear Tank Lanning licking his lips about the Curry Cup semi-finals plus Jedi and Juice talk bedtime stories… oh and about Australia and the never-ending love affair with Rugby.

Episode 160

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on October 8th, 2009

Wow this one has been a mission to put together, from slow ferrys to dodgey hardrives the Rugby podcast of the Rugby Universe is through the wilderness and now available to you.

On this weeks show we meet former All Black Nathan Mauger and talk with him about his youth Rugby academy in Christchurch, then Jed and Bash talk about the NPC before Juice, Jonathan Owen, Peter Davies and Kevin Sullivan give us the run down on Rugby around the world.  We check out Superbru and see that a good week for Jed and Bash… was a good week for every one else and in emails we hear how 2000km and dead Kangaroo is not nearly enough to put the brakes on Lino and his Monash Unversity team as they headed for glory on the Gold Coast as the Australian University Games.

Plus there is a sensational annoucement about the ARC!

160 - the one you’ve been waiting for!  Literally.

160 Delayed

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on October 7th, 2009

Kia Ora,

Thought it would make sense to advise you all that Episode 160 of the Rugby Roundtable will be late this week.  While everything has been recorded we have a techinical issue with a hard drive and it’s meant waiting for files to be edited, also some maybe aware the GeneralThian channel on YouTube that showcases the Alternative Rugby Commentary show has been removed at the beheist of Sky Television Network, as you would expect this has caused quite a large response and that has also taken quite a lot of time to deal with.

My sincere apologies for the wait, but it has been an action packed week.

Thank you for your patience.

Jedi

And also this week, Aotearoa farewelled the great Sir Howard Morrison and so do we with a tribute to Uncle Howie… rest in piece matua.

This episode is dedicated to the people of Samoa, in their time of great need we hope that the Rugby Universe will come together and help Samoa RISE UP!

Episode 158

Posted in Uncategorized by whip on September 24th, 2009

Apologies for the lateness of this show people, there has been some problems with the Podbean service.

In the show this week Jed and Bash take a look over the cold carcass of the Criminal Element after the Blackness took them for a pumping in the Cake Tin, they take another in depth look at the NPC (although their tipping suggests they should throw themselve off a building instead) the Heartland and the International code being played aroudn the world.  We take another shot in the arm from the USA, is it me or do they sounds wierd?

Kora plays the final track on their album and yes the Juice is back, Roland Maul has the news.

Remember for all downloading hassles email jed.thian@gmail.com and let that sucker deal with it…!
